Indigo is not your average purple color-it is said to enhance creativity and artistry. And furniture-maker, artist and architect Roy McMakin nailed it with this gorgeous pair of indigo lounge chairs. This set of chairs is one of a kind, made especially for a colleague and also art professional of Mr. McMakin in the mid 1990s. The chairs not only make a bold, pop art type of statement, but are very comfortable and cozy; the type of chair that you can curl up in and let your legs hang off the side. They are made of merino wool and stained maple. The fabric is in fabulous condition and the legs are sturdy with a few scuffs that can easily be re-stained. P.S. This pair is together forever; no break-ups, only sold as a pair.
Fun Fact: A similar McMakin chair resides in the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Los Angeles (MOCA).
About Roy McMakin: Roy McMakin's work looks at the design and function of domestic environments, finding in them unexpected and hidden associations. Subtle and highly crafted, his furniture and his art explore the nature of representation, function, decoration, and celebration in both public and private life. During his career McMakin has lived in San Diego, Los Angeles and Seattle, where he is currently based, and at various times he has worked as an architect and designer as well as artist, nimbly crossing and exploring boundaries between professions. less
