Sip in style with this 7 piece set of vintage tankard mugs with clear glass bottoms, made in Hong Kong. They have large, rounded handles, classic tankard shaped bodies, and clear glass bottoms. The legend is that the glass bottomed tankard was developed as a way of refusing the King's shilling, i.e. conscription into the British army or navy. The drinker could see the coin in the bottom of the glass and refuse the drink, thereby avoiding conscription. The bottoms are marked "Hong Kong" Add a timeless, retro touch to your dining room or bar ...cheers!
