This vintage handsome Pug dog in miniature will bring a touch of England to your home from Longton Stoke-on-Trent, England.
James Wright Beswick and sons established their pottery business in 1896 and became well known for their porcelain animal figurines, including their famous horses. Their wonderful ceramic animals are prized for their detail and realism, and this dog is no exception. If you have a pug, or admire pugs, you will be taken with the broad muscular chest, the expressive face with its perfect pug nose, intelligent eyes and trademark ears and curly tail.
The pug is marked Beswick England on its belly, indicating that it dates from before 1969 when the company became part of Royal Doulton.
He is 2.75 inches tall and 3 inches from his ear to his curly tail and yes, the craftsman took care to show that he is a boy. The pug is a playful and affectionate dog known to be beloved by Queen Victoria.
Available for adoption to a good home. less
