THE TABLE
Beautiful one of a kind 13-year old MCM-style walnut dining set originally purchased at Half Crown Design. What … more THE TABLE
Beautiful one of a kind 13-year old MCM-style walnut dining set originally purchased at Half Crown Design. What makes this table particularly unique and unusual in design is that it has a book matched two-board slab walnut top. These two consecutive pieces are from the same tree - a rare find for dining table tops. The inlays in the bases are steel. There are a few scratches on the table and one small circular burn mark. The burn mark is quite discrete and resembles a knot in the wood. These surface defects are highlighted in the last three pictures.
THE CHAIRS
This table is matched with Half Crown Chairs composed of walnut (matching the dining set) and a dark blue/green leather. Current market cost per chair is around $3,500, depending on seat fabric. Minor scuffs and marks on the chairs that can be minimized further with extra polish and care. Of the six chairs, two snapped at the base of the back rest. They were restored using vertical steel rods by RARE restoration (Brookline, MA). They remain visually identical to the rest of the set. The rods are only visible when looking directly under the chairs or when picking them up as they are slightly heavier than the other four.
EVALUATION + CONDITION
Total original value estimated between $36,000-$41,000. Email proof of this price estimate from the table builders can be provided. Although high quality wood doesn't really depreciate, the minor scuffs and markings outlined above are reflected in the current asking price for the full dining set.
