Takatori ware is a type of Japanese pottery that originated in Fukuoka Prefecture. Known for its “Kirei-sabi” aesthetic, pioneered by tea master Kobori Enshu in the 17th century, Takatori ware has a history that spans over 400 years. The pottery's delicate and refined designs have made it highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike.
This bulb-shaped hanging flower vase is finely glazed in Takatori yellow and candy-brown. Towards the foot of the front of the vessel, a small belt of blue glaze hangs discreetly. Elsewhere, throwing lines are visible from its inception on the potter’s wheel.
