Louis XVI Style Montgolfiere Side Chair; original handpainted balloon motif with blue and blue/red striping. The back represents an ascension balloon and the legs are fluted columns typical of the Louis XVI period. The back has two bolts that go from the legs into the back of the seat for tightening.
This model was originally designed by Jean-Baptiste-Bernard Demay to mark the inaugural flight in 1784 of the first ascension balloon designed by the Montgolfiere Brothers. Stamp/label under the seat says: BUYING & DESIGN S.R.L. FLORENCE-ITALY
