Darling vintage picture frame hand painted with a verre eglomise design of flowers and garlands against a light green pistachio … more Darling vintage picture frame hand painted with a verre eglomise design of flowers and garlands against a light green pistachio background. ‘Verre églomisé’ is a French style of reverse glass gilding and painting developed in the 18th century in which the design is painted on the rear face of the glass. This frame is lined on the interior and back with a pink & white dotted fabric and edged in wood painted in matte antique gold. It can stand on its own or be hung on the wall. It has an original yellow grosgrain ribbon hanger which could be removed or replaced, if desired. Opening for photo or artwork is about 4” x 4”. We do not know its provenance, though it looks European. Likely from the late 20th century. less
