"Girl at the balustrade" Signed M.Groove. Framed .
The Düsseldorf artist Marga Groove-Marcovic, born in 1920, was a very versatile artist. The enclosed exhibition catalog contains information about her artistic career and training.
Children were a favorite subject for her. Although this watercolor is not dated, it could be tentatively dated to the 1950s/60s, as according to the catalog, the artist mainly created watercolors during this period. The strong, bright and friendly colors stand in stark contrast to the girl's dark, sad and empty eyes. Perhaps due to the traumatic war experiences of these children.
