This is a set of antique portrait paintings depicting a sea captain and his wife. Early 19th century Georgian era. American school. Oil on canvas. Apparently unsigned. The paintings themselves measure 19 312" x 16 1/2" and are displayed in their original antique ebonized wood frames measuring 23" x 20".

Condition: There has been restoration work done, including some in-painting to the gentleman. Possibly relined. Both frames show some wear (please see all photos). the foam board backing you see was added at some point for protection of the canvas. Wonderful examples of early American portraits.
