Originally used as a hat box. Who knew? The sides are slightly hammered copper & the fluted brass dome hinged lid is very ornate & unusual. The era is Victorian. The lid has a latch on front which is fitted to the closure on the coper box. Beautiful ornate latch! Nice, aged patina. Makers Mark remains on the underside of the box. This is such a beautiful accent piece that you could use it anywhere & fill it with things you want to keep out of sight. Of course, you can always use it as a Hat Box! See less
