This Pablo Picasso rare vintage 1965 first edition Mid Century Modern offset lithograph print collector's softcover Modern Art book is an incredibly special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The Mid Century Modern softcover art book with laminated covers is published by Barnes 7 & Noble Inc. New York, printed in Holland in 1965 by The Ysel Press Ltd., Deventer. Book lay-out and design by Wim Van Steck, artwork reproduction rights : Sabam Brussels ; Spadem, Paris. It features an intimate scale monograph survey of the artworks of Pablo Picasso, with accompanied compelling text by acclaimed art historian author Jacques Damase.
Pablo Picasso ( 1881 - 1973 ) was a Spanish born painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, poet and playwright who spent most of his life in France. He is regarded as one of the most important and influential artists of The Twentieth Century. Exceptionally prolific throughout the course of his long life, Picasso achieved universal renown and immense fortune for his revolutionary artistic accomplishments, and became one of the most well known figures in 20th Century Art.
Jacques Damase ( 1930 - 2014 ) was a French publisher, art historian, and venerable gallery owner. He created his publishing house at the age of 17, making him the youngest publisher in the world of his time. He published the works of Jean Cocteau, Jean Paul Satre, Paul Eluard, and Charlie Chaplin. His own books included studies on the art works of Braque, Chagall, Picasso, Calder, Max Ernst, Sonia and Robert Delaunay. Damase is one of the few publishers to have had exhibitions of his books in major international libraries and museums including The Centre Pompidou Paris. His famous gallery in Paris exhibited the artworks of Le Corbusier, Jean Cocteau, Jim Dine, Hans Arp, and Sonia Delaunay among others.
The rare out of print 1st edition small format Mid Century Modern softcover art book measures 4 1/2" W X 6 7/8" H X 1/4" D, with 90 pages. It features 66 offset lithograph print illustrations, including 24 in full color.
