A long tete a tete sofa / chaise designed by Joe D’Urso for Donghia. A slightly tapered form with an open back for passing through. Meant to float in a room hence the name “island” but could work against a wall. Mahogany feet on each end “float” the center section just off the floor, an ode to Mies Van Der Rohe’s designs. The sofa comes in two pieces with the long chaise connecting in to the large right angled arm. The construction is top notch with 8 way hand tied springs supported by no sag straps all around a solid wood frame. Newly upholstered in Knoll plaidtastec fabric. Would work well with designs by Edward Wormley, Harvey Probber and Robsjohn Gibbings.
