English jockey scales are a fantastic piece of horse racing history. These handsome scales were used at British tracks—measuring jockeys’ in the English unit of stones (1 stone equals 14 pounds). The British firm of W & T. Avery was founded in the early 18th century specializing in scales and earned the reputation as the premier manufacturer of their age.
