These pieces of art are hand made by the Marquis Collection of Beverly Hills. They date back to the 1980's. These monumental modern abstract shaped urns are a masterful collage of different wood veneers artfully layered and weaved together to provide a naturalistic fossil appearance. They are built onto a solid wood substrate. The veneer is covered by a very thick layer of lacquer which holds the various layers of wood in place. These Modern pieces of art are guaranteed to catch everyone's attention and become the focal point of any elegant environment.
Please note that these objects are vintage. They have apparently been exposed to sun light for decades. While the smaller unit is in perfect vintage condition, the larger unit, on the side seemingly exposed to direct UV rays, has the layer of lacquer showing cracks. The veneer underneath has been protected. The buyer could choose to strip the cracked layer of lacquer on this side and re-lacquer it or use it in its current condition if protected from UV rays. The other side of the larger unit, seemingly the side not exposed to direct UV-rays, has kept the layer of lacquer in fine vintage condition with no visible cracks. less
