Between 1880 and 1887, Georg Macco studied at the Düsseldorf art academy with Eugen Gustav Dücker and Johann Peter Theodor Janssen and made drawings for the gazebo and coat of arms for the works of his brother Hermann Friedrich Macco. He then moved to Munich for study purposes and made numerous trips from here that provided him with inspiration and motives for his works of art. This resulted in painting series from the alpine highlands, from Norway and Spitzbergen and from Italy. Although it was still rare at the time to deal with oriental motifs, Macco's in particular numerous works that had been created in the course of his orientation to Athens, Constantinople, Baalbek, Jerusalem, Cairo and Mecca, soon among the most popular of his art objects.
Georg Macco is exhibited in the Alpine Museum in Munich with several works in the Düsseldorf municipal art museum, in the Suermondt Ludwig Museum in Aachen, in the Rudolfinum in Prague. This piece has an attribution mark,
