It is unmarked but I have seen other Maitland Smith dishes and compotes with the same shells and design. It uses a real pearlescent exotic shell to form the dish, supported by four different shells that form the base--the material appears to be pewter or a similar metal. It looks like silver but I'm sure it's not. Four metal straps hold the real shell in place with little rivets at the ends that wrap around the top of the shell. There is one area of the shell that has filler added, as pictured, which was done at the company. This is original to the piece and not a repair. It measures approximately 7" across by 6" and 2" tall. A beautiful accent piece for any table. less
