An incredibly stunning large plate by Romano Innocenti in a hexagon shape. Very few of his pieces are hand signed by himself on the underside making this an early firing and a far more collectible item. There is his usual Innocenti mark on the front as well. The plate portrays blue bird sitting on a branch of a flowering shrub with a leaf in its beak, the colourful feathers that are so reminiscent of Innocenti designs.
Romano Innocenti (1936-2005) In the 1960's Romano Innocenti moved to the splendid hills of Montefiesole, Florence, to a town named Pontassieve. Romano's work was mainly in forms and in patterns, developing a fusion between the traditional art of ceramics which are linked to majolica and contemporary art. His personalised style is unique in its kind that became the characterising element of Innocenti ceramics. The objects entirely hand-made are still now considered unique pieces of great value, sold in the most prestigious shops worldwide. The Innocenti ceramiche production was presented in many national and international events continually receiving awards and prizes. Romano worked with his brother Luigi and his wife, who also took delight in the painting. His sons Stefano and Massimo were also involved in the business. Sadly Romano died in 2005. Stefano Innocenti is still producing beautiful pieces today.
