Decorative Chinese hunt scene plate, hand painted, made in Macau, from the 1960's.
These scenes are a common subject in traditional in Chinese art.
The "hunt" was an annual rite begun in the 1600's when the Emperor would leave the confines of the Forbidden City and journey with his entourage to the Forests of the North. The plate is bordered in bats which is a symbol of good luck & happiness in Chinese culture.
