This is an original 19th century John James Audubon hand-colored lithograph entitled "Hare Indian Dog", No. 27, Plate CXXXII, 132, from Audubon's "Quadrupeds of North America", printed and colored by J.T. Bowen and published in Philadelphia from 1849-1856. It depicts a dog lying on a flat rock in a Native American encampment with tepees and mountains in the background.
This antique hand-colored Audubon quadruped lithograph is presented with the original descriptive text pages from Audubon's publication. There is a thin elongated area of discoloration in the left margin and a few tiny faint spots elsewhere. The print is otherwise in very good condition.
