Beautiful heavy vintage Chinese brass bowl. Two dragons amidst the clouds chase the flaming pearl. There is wonderful symbolism in Chinese art such as this. Dragons are said to represent power, prosperity, good luck and strength, while the pearl represents wisdom, perhaps suggesting that chasing wisdom is the key to obtaining the dragons' attributes.
In the center are a number of Chinese characters. Unfortunately, neither Google Translate nor I have yet captured the pearl necessary to translate its message.
The bowl was made in China and has a hand hammered feeling to it. It rocks slightly when touch as the bottom is curved. It is 8 inches in diameter and 1.5 inches tall.
Wonderful as a decorative or functional piece. less
