Pair of custom wrought iron stools by prominent American furniture maker and designer. Upholstered in zebra-printed cow hide. Very heavy( 28.6lb each).
Gregory Clark is a fourth generation artisan with a lifetime passion for furniture, art, craft, and creative design. He has traveled the world creating objects from furniture, to shoes, to consumer products. From artisan studios in Egypt, to restoring relics utilizing ancient techniques in Venice, to working beside modern production facilities throughout the Far East, Mexico, and South America, his curiosity for learning how to create great works has been insatiable. Gregory received a degree in Industrial Design from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), studied engineering at Brown University, studied Architectural and Artifact Conservation in Italy, and apprenticed with master shoe producers and designers in Asia. While at RISD he participated in course work with notable artists/designers, including Dale Chilhuly, master Industrial Designer Marc Harrison, and renowned furniture designers Tage Frid and John Dunnigan.
During his career he has been awarded numerous patents for his creations, demonstrating his love for innovation alongside his passion for craftsmanship. Clark was recently rated number 91 on Wikipedia’s list of prominent RISD graduates. Prior to focusing on his life’s passion of furniture design, Gregory worked as an Industrial Designer developing products for numerous international brands including; Adidas, Chesebrough Ponds, Schick Razor, Nike, 3M, Proctor & Gamble, Hoechst Celanese, Herman Miller, and Stanley Tools.
His work is rich in luxurious materials and enlivened by one-of-a-kind elements reinventing the definition of traditional handicrafts. With a passion for sculptural shapes and superior craftsmanship, his iconic pieces can be found in the best collections. less
