A matching pair of ceramic ashtrays by famed ceramics firm, Freeman & McFarlin Potteries of California, likely dating from the 1960s - 1970s. They are in excellent vintage condition without any chips or cracks, and appear to have never been used as no signs of discoloration whatsoever. We do note that one is missing 2 of the thin felt bumpers underneath the base, not affecting use, and that both do show fine crazing due to age. Both retain original foil maker's label.

Very nice form, being ever so slightly longer than a square, with a bowl that is also ever so slightly wider than a circle forming a fat oval. Acanthus leaf shapes add texture to the sides with dark bronze gold gilding as accent. Hollywood Regency meets Mediterranean meets Mid-Century in these pieces. less
