Editions were limited to 125 to 250 impressions. This one probably falls in the middle of that number.

The titled "Butterballs" refers not to the name of the ducks (in this case Bufflehead's), but to "diving" nature of the duck.

Plate marks measure 8" x 11". The frame measures 18.75" x 14.75".

Pencil signed and titled by the artist. Very good condition with minimal foxing.

Churchill Ettinger was an exceptional artist and an accomplished sportsman in the field. Born May 10, 1903 in Halworth, New Jersey, he studied at Columbia University, the National Academy of Design and the Art Students League in New York City. He also attended the New York School of Industrial Art, where he would eventually teach. less
