A popular Kurdish rendition of the design. The corroded dark brown main border features cross shaped rosettes and abstract torn leaves. The charming outer ivory minor border features reversing escutcheon palmettes and forked leaves,all developing from an informal vine. This piece is woven on wool foundation. There is overall visible wear with dark browns in the border further corroded. But the rug is still very solid and floor worthy. There is end reduction,especially at lower end. Both ends have been secured. Garrus was the source of Bidjar rugs before 1918. After WWI the industry relocated to nearby Bidjar. This rug is an authentic creation of Kurdish rustic women. It has been cleaned professionally. less
