His brother was the painter René Stevens. He was a member of the artists' association L'Essor, but his artistic training is not known. At some point he changed his name to Agapit Pierre Jean Joseph Stevens, and this name appears on his death certificate. He died in 1917 in Watermael-Boitsfort, Brussels.
