This sofa was put up for sale in 1970 by the Flat gallery in Paris and Brussels, marking its entry into the market. Its fame has been amplified thanks to its publication in several leading French design journals of the time, including a publication in the Revue La Maison Française in April 1971.
The modular design of this sofa meets practical considerations. Charpentier has deliberately opted for this approach to avoid the components linked to the dimensions of a four-seater monobloc sofa. Such a piece of furniture would have been excessively bulky and heavy, making it difficult to pass through the stairs or the corridors.

This sofa recently benefited from a complete restoration, with a new gray velvet coating, thus offering a new aesthetic. Each base is carefully finished in stainless steel.
