A Stunning Antique 19th-Century British Colonial porcupine quill box. The ebony box was made in Ceylon, The Colonial name for Sri Lanka.   The Antique Anglo-Indian ebony box is handcrafted with porcupine quills and enhanced with bone dots.  The opening is a sliding top with a unique handle.

These boxes are hand-made and are each slightly different in size and/or appearance due to the use of actual natural porcupine quills (quills are naturally shed and are used without harm to the animals).   These boxes have become hard to find in the U.S. with the present prohibited agriculture and animal products being imported.    

Measures 7 1/4" x 3 3/4" x 2".
