Hand-carved circa 1800, the original finish has been washed and the carving was mounted on a painted black stand with a thin metal column. The bleaching has rendered the wood to its natural beige color, allowing the nuances of the carvings to really stand out.

Two men dressed in traditional attire, including a hat and knee-high pants with leggings beneath, are seated at a barrel-like tavern table. Both men are enjoying a beverage, while the gentleman on the right holds a cigarette to his lips. The duo is surrounded by a lush foliate canopy, crowned with a slightly incurved entablature with cavetto molding.
