Most likely produced as a souvenir commemorating a museum or cathedral visit, this was probably produced sometime between the 1930s – 1960s. The figure is either the Virgin Mary or Mary Magdalene (my vote is the latter) on a background of gold leaf.

A handwritten note on the reverse indicates it is from the “Isenheim Altarpiece by Matthias Grunewald” but this is incorrect. She is definitely the work of an Italian painter.

The overall quality of this piece is unmatched. The image is beautifully reproduced, with beautiful color intensity and depth (photos don't do it justice). The gesso and paint on the original frame are immaculate… like the Virgin herself. An uncommon find.
