This is a beautiful Japanese piece with an exquisite hand-embroidered tapestry that was purchased by an American couple who framed it during Christmas 1979 in Charlotte, NC.
The scene depicts a traditional Japanese colorful bird singing while perched on a cherry blossom tree limb. The piece has lush reds, pinks, greens, whites and golds embroidered onto a creamy gold background.
Surrounding the embroidery work is a beautiful purple and yellow embroidered tape with a floral design. Outside of that, is another silk fabric with a geometric embroidered pattern. The entire tapestry is framed in a simple black and gold wood frame, with glass to protect the work.
The North Carolina couple framed the tapestry in December 1979 at a “Frame-It-Yourself” shop in Charlotte, NC as seen by the sticker on the back.
The frame measures 11” Tall x 12.25” Wide x 1.125” Deep. It weighs 1 pound 5.3 ounces or 21.02 ounces or 596 grams. less
