As modernist armring or bangle designed by the Swedish female iconic silversmith Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe during the late 1960s. It has a twisted shape with concave organic curves executed in the most delicate and sensual way. Manufactured by Georg Jensen in Denmark circa 1970-80. Its fully hallmarked and signed by Georg Jensen. Weight: approx. 30 grams.
Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe (1927 – 2004), often referred to simply as Torun, was one of Sweden's most important 20th century silversmiths and a master jeweller. She was the first female silversmith to to become internationally noted. Among her most important works are the watch "Vivianna," the earrings and necklaces "Dew Drop." and the Möbius series of which this piece is a part of.
Torun was awarded a gold medal at the 1960 Milan Triennale and she won the American Lunning Prize for design, given annually to innovative Scandinavian designers in their thirties. She then met the Danish silversmith Georg Jensen, for whom she began designing exclusively in 1969.
Torun's jewelry has been worn by celebrities including Billie Holiday, Ingrid Bergman, and Brigitte Bardot, and her customers included Pablo Picasso and the Duke of Ellington. Her work is on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Swedish National Museum in Stockholm, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Montreal, the Louvre in Paris, the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths in London, and in the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich.
