An antique-looking Chinese celadon vase that was produced in the 20th C, very possibly late 20th C. It has a nice shape and molded decoration in which the glaze has pooled nicely.
The stoneware vase has been glazed in a thick brownish green glaze that has a nice soft feel. There are many crackle lines deep in the glaze.
Designs of lotus scrolls are incised around middle of bottle, as well as the neck. The handles appear to be based on elephant trunks. The lower part of the bottle has a running lappet design. Two lines circle above the lappet base and two more lines incise circularly around the neck just below base of handles. Below the neck scrolling are four encircling ridges. The inside of the vase is glazed down through the bottom of the neck.
The shallow foot is cut and squared off. The glaze control around the foot is very good. The unglazed foot reveals a reddish iron clay. The base is glazed. The vase shows the mold lines on both sides near the handles.

The vase has no cracks, chips, breaks or repairs. There are three or four small pin hole glaze faults. The glaze shows considerable wear, but this was likely created artificially to give a look of age. It has an ancient look that is decorative.
A vase to use in many decors from Midcentury to traditional. If you can’t afford the 1000 year old original, this is a good substitute. less
