The tray was formerly the drawer of a linen press, raised on an associated stand with chamfered square legs. The scalloped edge would be placed on the outside of frame and the low edge would be placed on the inside - near the sofa. Early 19th Century or later for the tray. Mid to late 19th Century for the frame. Very English & very Mario Buatta.

The underside clearance from the floor to bottom coffee table frame is 16.0 inches - enough room for a small foot stool.
