Late 19th century hand colored engraving depicting "The Twelfth of August - Luncheon on the Moors" by John Charlton, circa 1876, showing a hunting party and dogs enjoying a day in the hills. Framed in a beveled giltwood frame with carved accents.
"John Charlton (1849 - 1917) was active/lived in United Kingdom. John Charlton is known for Portrait, hunting genre, horse, animal, and military painting. Born in Bamburgh, Northumberland in 1849, John Charlton studied at the Newcastle School of Art and at South Kensington. Specializing mainly in portraits and sporting and military subjects, he was commissioned by Queen Victoria to paint her arrival at St. Paul's Cathedral for the Diamond Jubilee Service in 1899."
