It's inspired by a mythology and related to fantasy furniture.
This Arm chair made from Mahogany and Bronze in the George III style with sunburst motife backs, or so called wheel spoke back, with a pagan symbolic image of the Sun in the medallion in the center of the back of the chair.
This chair has ergonomic molded very comfortable carved and brass nail-headed leather upholstered armrests, button down sun color leather seats and reeded legs with brass castors.
Comfortable deep seat upholstered with a sun color leather.
Very nice, unusual chair.

Similar pair of chairs are depicted in Country Life Magazine in Feb 1935 in England.
Some of those was made by Thomas Chippendale and there are some other made by George Hepplewhite, historical Designs Giants of XVIII Century whose names are given to entire styles in design.
The chair is in a pretty good gently used condition.

Brass details at the base of each leg with a small bronze wheel running smoothly. See less
