This type of scuffs were sometimes visible on brand-new items and per the artist were part of the sanding/finishing proces. The "arms" under the metallic leaf are part of the cast glass structure of the vessel itself and share the same textured finish as the exterior of the vessel. The metallic leaf applied to the arms will reflect "high/low" textures in the glass so is not always completely smooth but is part of the hand-made quality of the piece. The metallic leaf itself has variations in color due to the manufacturing process as well as age. less

George Bucquet is a master glass artist from Northern California specializing in contemporary-styled vessels fashioned of cast glass in striking colors usually detailed with metallic leaf.
This item was cast in amber----one of the artists signature colors, and finished with metallic copper leafing on the arms. The exterior of the vessel has slightly textured matte finish due to the "sand casting" process by which it was made. The top and interior of the piece are polished.
George Bucquet's work was favored by a number of interior designers and used in several estates in Palm Desert and Indian Wells by Steve Chase Associates and Guy Dreier Designs.
This particular piece was used in an estate at The Vintage in Indian Wells. The clean lines and vibrant color were always great accents to the architecture of the residence.
It is stamped "Bucquet '05". George Bucquet began to move his art into other directions in the late "00's and the Oval 9 has not been manufactured since that period. These pieces are rarely available.
It is really a beautiful piece ! less
