This African-themed rustic fire screen features a metal sheet of animals watched over by two thin eyes, which may symbolize the Eye of Horus, the Inner Eye, or Evil Eyes, as a protective element and/or inner knowledge. This scene is framed in scallops and zig-zags commonly found in African Kuba cloths and African mud cloths, mounted on a hand-forged, hammered iron frame. It is crowned with pointed finials on the top two corners. The zig-zag pattern, paired with the symbolic eyes, tigers, camels, elephants, and a person playing the Kora (a traditional West African instrument), lends a folk style rooted in a specific time and place that may represent a traditional folk tale.
