Original French Chocolat Guerin Boutron
Advertising Clock
A wonderful original Guerin Boutron advertising clock
-Circa 1920-30’s
-Brought back from France by owners of the store, Leftover Antiques
This handsome French advertising wall clock would have originally hung in a French Cafe to advertise Guerin Boutron Chocolat in the 1920-30's.
Exuding rustic charm, it is made of embossed painted metal with a wonderful patina of paint loss and rust.
-Would be a striking feature in a rustic kitchen, chocolate shop, Cafe or Patisserie.
-Originally a mechanical movement by the famed maker Japy Freres, this was missing and it was
fitted with a small, simple battery operated quart movement clock, retaining the original hands and winding shaft.
I took it to a clock repair shop in Grapevine,Tx to have it checked. He said it was keeping time well and saw no problems.
-Hanging hook on the back.
Hands are cut steel with a lovely original red color, the dial being painted and enameled steel.
There is a light sheen to the face. It appears to have been cleaned and clear-coated to lock in the patina.
-Some dents, surface rust, wear and scratches.
-The dial is marked with paint loss and the gold background of the outside lettering has mellowed.
Dimensions:
Height: 3 in
Diameter: 19 in
Chairish sells clocks only with display as the intended use. The mechanical elements are not guaranteed to be in working order by Chairish.
