Classic Poster Paper - Perfect Condition A
This colorful and vibrant original poster proof was created for an exhibition of Hartung's work at the Musée National d'Art Modern in Paris in 1969.
Working with a mix of acrylic paint, ink, chalk and pastels on canvas or cardboard, Hans Hartung would scratch, scrape and reapply pigment in the whirls and thatched lines that came to be emblematic of his painting. While Soulages worked in black and white, Hartung used a broad palette of translucent colours, creating something fluid and apparently intuitive. Although his work appeared spontaneous, there was a strict method to it. His expressions of feeling were shaped by rationality. Ed. 1,000. there was also an edition of 100, signed and numbered, with a few artist proofs on Arches paper.
