from the Napoleonic era
rich decoration; It was made in the 19th century with brass decorations made using the Repousse method (deboning).
embossed plates were handmade with a wooden back;
Replicating - decorating products in ancient times consisted of: Sheet metal by cold cutting out holes, giving a convex pattern on the other side. The repoussé technique was used to decorate malleable and forged metals - mainly gold, silver, copper, brass and iron. Hammers were used - hard, soft and carved, punk and soft. Although mirrors play a very important role, they were actually made using the ancient mercury technique, which involved applying metal to a series of layers of tin flattened on glass, and then the mercury was smoothed and polished with a special stone and buffered with a mixture, which is why it was called "living silver". This technique was developed by a Venetian glass master (Maestro Dal Gallo 1507); The Republic of Venice kept the work a secret, but over time it leaked out of the city and spread to European countries, especially France: the Gallery of Mirrors in the Palace of Versailles is decorated with hundreds of mercury mirrors!
Very decorative work. Handmade in France between 1800 and 1899.
