Time magazine once wrote, "Through the intoxicating Twenties and Thirties, the Garden of Allah was more house party than hotel." The hotel soon became a place where high-profile celebrities could enjoy quiet, quaint accommodations away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. Although the hotel closed its doors in 1959, it remains a fascinating relic of the past.

Sheilah Graham was an American gossip columnist during Hollywood's Golden Age. It was at The Garden of Allah where she met novelist, F. Scott Fitzgerald. They would remain together until his death in 1940.

Notable guests included:
F. Scott Fitzgerald-lived there on and off from 1937-1938. While staying at the hotel, he wrote an infamous postcard to himself "Dear Scott, How are you? Have been meaning to come in and see you. I have (been) living at the Garden of Allah. Yours, Scott Fitzgerald." During this time, Fitzgerald was struggling to make ends meet as screenwriter in Hollywood. It was at the Garden of Allah that Fitzgerald wrote much of his last novel, "The Last Tycoon."
