Image dimensions: 48.5 x 39.5 cm. The Imagination is an original contemporary artwork realized by Marino Marini in 1966 and printed in 1977. Color lithograph on Arches paper. Original title: L'immaginazione Edited by Graphis Arte, Livorno. 90 specimen + L + 10 artist's proof numbered and signed by the artist. Marino Marini (1901-1980), was an Italian sculptor. He lived in Paris and Athens. Accustomed to the classical artistic tradition, he then detached from it and drew inspiration from Egyptian and Etruscan art. His research essentially explores the internal structure of form and the organization of space in plastic forms. He is best known for his figurative equestrian sculptures. He won prizes at the International Exposition of Paris in 1937 and at the Venice Biennial in 1952. Marini died on August 6, 1980, in Viareggio, Italy, and the Marino Marini Museum dedicated to his oeuvre opened in Florence in 1988. Throughout his life, he would return to the theme of a horse and rider with his arms stretched out to either side, as exemplified in his seminal work The Angel of the City (1948). He is also noted for his expressive busts featuring forlorn and abstracted faces, as well as paintings depicting his recurring horse-riding figure. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
