A very charming small enamel container with silver mounts
It is an 18th century Etui, a small ornamental silver case for holding needles, cosmetics and other small articles or a perfume necessaire
Skillfully rendered in polychrome enamels romantic images, a courting couple at one side and a Rococo girl with a fan at the other, against a white background, all using typical for the period and style rocailles and asymmetrical patterns
The interior is enameled in turquoise blue
Circa 1730's-1740's, possibly French
Measurements: Approx. 2.75" tall x 1.75" x 0.75"
Weighs about 1 5/8 oz. - 46 gr.
Condition: Very Good overall. Please see photos. Silver parts are tarnished, but with no problems and the enamels show typical for the age craquelure, minor and unobtrusive. All original
