Technique: made from recycled plastic and weaved by local craftspeople in cartagena, colombia. The cielo lounge chair high is a light, versatile and comfortable design by sebastian herkner. It’s ready for indoor and outdoor use and a great choice to create inspired seating areas on a terrace or in the living room. Available in various color combinations, the stackable chair can also add personality to lobbies and lounges of restaurants and hotels. Like the daybed and barstools of the collection, the colors and look are inspired by sebastian’s visits to colombia. There, he not only immersed himself in the culture and beauty of the country but also met the local ames artisans and learned about their traditional weaving techniques. Each armchair is made in santa marta, a city on the caribbean coast of colombia, by local craftspeople. They weave the pvc strings, which are made from recycled plastic, around a powder-coated tubular steel frame. The weaving technique the artesanos and artesanas use are called momposino, a traditional method known for intricate patterns. Just the preparation of all the materials takes ten days, while the production of each armchair takes three days. less
