Stylized French landscape by Michel de Gallard, a painter of the School of Paris.
This moody, composition shows a cluster of buildings amid fallow fields with an orchard of bare trees in the right foreground.
MARKINGS: Signature upper left. Remnant of gallery label on back.

MEASURES 46” x 36” framed.
Very good pre-owned condition. No damage to picture. Some wear on frame.
A monograph on Gallard is included with the painting.
"Born in Villefranche-sur-Allier, Bourbonnais, France, April 22, 921. Studied medicine for a while, then turned to art, attending independent academies while earning a living as a chemist and journalist...Gallards stylized interpretations of nature have won several prizes, including the Bourser Nationale de Voyage in 1949, the Prix Antral in 1952 and the Prix Partica at the Biennale of Menton. The French government has acquired several of paintings."
