*Established in 1893, Pickard China is a renowned American porcelain decorating and manufacturing company headquartered in Antioch, Illinois. Over the years, it has distinguished itself in the realm of fine china, producing exquisite pieces that have graced the tables of heads of state, prestigious hotels, and discerning collectors worldwide. The company's roots can be traced back to Edgerton, Wisconsin, where Wilder Austin Pickard, a visionary entrepreneur, founded it in 1894. Driven by a passion for artistry and craftsmanship, Pickard embarked on a mission to create exceptional hand-painted giftware, artware, and ultimately, dinnerware. In 1897, he relocated the company to Chicago, a bustling hub of creativity, where he assembled a talented team of artists, many of whom had emigrated from Europe. Under Pickard's astute leadership, the company flourished, becoming a beacon of American artistry and innovation. Its hand-painted designs, characterized by intricate details, vibrant colors, and elegant motifs, quickly gained recognition for their unique beauty. The company's artists drew inspiration from diverse sources, including nature, mythology, and the arts, infusing each piece with a timeless elegance that continues to captivate collectors today. In 1977, Pickard China received a prestigious honor when the U.S. Department of State selected it to manufacture the official china service used by American embassies and diplomatic missions around the globe. This recognition further solidified the company's reputation as a purveyor of exquisite craftsmanship and refined aesthetics. Throughout its rich history, Pickard China has remained steadfast in its commitment to quality and artistry. Each piece is meticulously crafted using traditional techniques, ensuring that every detail is executed with precision and finesse. The company's signature use of 24K gold, pure platinum, and brilliant cobalt lends a touch of luxury and opulence to its designs. Pickard China continues to uphold its legacy as a leading producer of fine china. Its collections, spanning a range of styles from traditional to contemporary, cater to a clientele that appreciates timeless elegance and exceptional craftsmanship. Whether gracing the tables of formal dining settings or adorning the shelves of discerning collectors, Pickard China pieces remain treasured heirlooms, passed down through generations as enduring testaments to artistry and refinement.
