An original oil painting on canvas by Harold Dearden, British artist 1888(?)-1962, "The Basket Maker and his Family" scene of … Read more An original oil painting on canvas by Harold Dearden, British artist 1888(?)-1962, "The Basket Maker and his Family" scene of the basket weaver seated creating a basket, two dogs at his feet, his wife carrying his child behind him, a horse to their rear, 24" x 20", unsigned, an old label on the reverse of the original stretcher bar inscribed - "For Mrs.(?) Dearden, Basket Makers", CA number 3929, CA purchased summer of 2023 from a southwest English auction house. The work was probably executed in the 1930's or 1940's.
The painting has been reframed with a 3/4" white linen liner and a 3/4" natural wooden frame.
This work has been cleaned and varnished to protect the paint film.
The artist was an Associate of the Royal Cambrian Academy. See less
