These crumb-catchers were given as Customer Appreciation Gifts. In 1898, E. Blosser opened a shoe repair and retail shoe store, located in Nappanee, IN. In the 1900’s, shoes and boots sold for $1.50-$3.00 a pair—.25 cents to have your shoes resoled! If you were short of money, Blosser would except apple butter, pickles, potatoes, watermelons, eggs, pumpkins, sweet corn or even firewood for trade! Back then, the average pay was $1.00 a day…
Blosser sold out to Stuckman-Hall Shoes in 1937.
