Description: Stunning Jennens and Betridge styled Paper Machier chinoiserie pie crust scalloped edge side table with Mother of Pearl inlay. Antique … more Stunning Jennens and Betridge styled Paper Machier chinoiserie pie crust scalloped edge side table with Mother of Pearl inlay. Antique black lacquer paper mache tray table. This lovely table features inlaid mother of pearl and hand painted decoration.

This beautiful piece is painted in a dark ebony, with delicate iridescent pink cabbage roses surrounded gracefully with arching iridescent greenery. The large paper mache tray is attached to four graceful regency style faux bamboo legs which have been painted in the same dark ebony and highlighted with gold at each bamboo intersection.

It comes with a glass top which mimics the lovely pie scalloped edges.

Jennens and Bettridge (a partnership between Theodore Hyla Jennens, John Bettridge (snr), Aaron Jennens and John Bettridge (jnr) and later only A. Jennens and J. Bettridge (jnr) (fl. 1815-1864) were highly regarded for producing quality papier-mâché wares. They acquired the workshops of Henry Clay, Japanner to George III and the Prince of Wales, in 1816. Their original premises were in Birmingham and they started a London branch at 3 West Halkin Street, Belgravia in 1837. Later offices were established in Paris and New York.
