This piece features a lovely background in light blue green with deftly rendered brush strokes depicting a rabbit in black paint. The ears are particularly angular and playful, with whiskers cleverly achieved with the handle of the brush creating slender grooves in the impasto surface. The frame is remarkable, ebonized and with geometric silvered detailing adorning and surrounding the piece, balancing the painterly sensibility of the painting with a stable and gleaming pattern.

Represented by the International blue chip art gallery Marlborough Gallery, Slonem's work is held in museum collections around the world including the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Metropolitan Museum, and the Brooklyn Museum in New York, The Guggenheim Museum and The Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona, Spain.
